Bexley Model Railway Exhibition (Posted: 19/08/2008)

Erith Model Railway Society, in association with Kent Garden Railways, will be holding its annual Bexley show on Saturday 21st (10:00am to 5:00pm) and Sunday 22nd September 2008 (10:00am to 4:30pm). The show will be held at its usual location of Freemantle Hall, High Street, Bexley, Kent. Entry prices remain unchanged at £2.50 for adults, £2.00 for Concessions, £1.50 for 5-16 yr. olds (under 5’s free). Reasonably priced family tickets will also be on sale.

Layouts already booked and confirmed include Demo Road (Gauge 1), Farm View 2 (N) exhibiting for the first time since a major rebuild, Foxley Green (OO) exhibiting for the first time, Herringsham (O) exhibiting for the first time, Widnes Road (OO) and Hawley Down (N).  Further layouts (at least 1) and exhibitors are still being added so visit our website www.erithmrs.ukmodelshops.co.uk for the most up-to-date information.

Sales support will be provided by Kent Garden Railways (our sponsor) together with EMRS very own extensive second hand stand. Light refreshments at very reasonable prices will be available both days.

Access to the show is easy with Bexley Village being less than 5 minutes from the A2 and 15 minutes from the M25 and the Dartford River Crossing. If travelling by car, parking is available in the nearby council car parks (the best day to visit being Sunday as all car parking will be free). South Eastern Trains serves Bexley Village with regular services to London and the Medway Towns. Numerous bus routes including 132 and 229 run past the hall connecting Bexley with Sidcup, Orpington, Dartford, Bexleyheath and beyond. Please note that due to the nature of the hall access for the severely disabled to the refreshment area is limited.

Class 57/3 Photo Appeal (Posted: 02/08/2008)

We are currently in the process of putting together a Photo Collection of all of Virgin Train's 57/3 Thunderbirds. The class totals 16 examples and we have managed to source good pictures of all members apart from 57315 The Mole. We would welcome contributions of high quality shots of 57315 (at any location) for use in our planned 57/3 Photo Collection. If any member has a good quality photo of this loco or indeed any of the other Virgin 57/3s please e-mail us and we will be happy to consider all submissions.
